Hungry Aliens

As a multi-universal food collector, it is your desire to collect as many pieces of Alien Food as your little ship can hold. However, there are HUNGRY ALIENS looking to devour your precious cargo, not to mention all the other collectors who wish to get their grubby little hands on your prized goods. Stop them at all costs!

HUNGRY ALIENS is a curious, fast-paced, strategic card game designed for those who like space alien themed games where the goal is to acquire (steal!?) food from other collectors (players). The winner is the last collector to have any Alien Food left!

There are 72 cards in total: 2 x Rule cards, 12 x Alien Food cards, 58 x Play cards (10 x Defence cards, 14 x Recon cards, 34 x Attack cards).

Rule cards: Each Rule card contains all the rules required to play the game.

Alien Food cards: The most precious and delicious cards of the game. The ones you want to protect at all costs. Your favourite dishes such as Sour Red Soup and Sweet Blue Main.

Defence cards: Stop other collectors hurting you and your precious food. Example cards include Invisibility Shield and Opportunist.

Recon cards: Do you want to spy on the other collectors? Or do you want to search through the discard pile for your favourite card? Example Recon cards include Astral Glasses, Recycle Bot and Spy Drone.

Attack cards: Used to attack the other collectors and steal their food and resources. Things like Red Aliens, Robber Drones and Sabotage Bots.

HOW THE GAME WORKS

WINNING
The collector with the only remaining Alien Food is the winner!

LOSING
If you lose all of your Alien Food cards, you are immediately out of the game.

SETUP
1. All of the Alien Food cards are dealt evenly among the players face up in front of each player. They are kept face up throughout the game.
2. Each player is dealt five play cards which they keep hidden in their hand. They can look at them freely throughout the game.
3. The remaining play cards are placed face down in the middle of the table to form the Stack.

PLAY
1. Play begins with a random player who can either draw a card, or play a card. Both actions end the player's turn.
2. When a card is played, the effect written on the card immediately takes place. After a card is played, it is thrown into a face up pile next to the Stack known as the Discard pile.
3. Play continues in a clockwise direction, with each player either drawing a card, or playing a card.
4. Some cards are FREE to play. That is, at the beginning of your turn, you can play as many FREE cards in a turn as you have available and then still either draw or play a card. For example, you could play two FREE cards and then draw a card in a single turn. Or you could play three FREE cards and then play a normal card, ending your turn.
5. Defence cards must be played outside of your turn and can only be played against an attack card that is targeting you.
6. Recon cards cannot be defended against.
7. As the turns go by, some Alien Food cards may be Destroyed - i.e. they are removed from the game. They cannot be brought back until the next game. There are many HUNGRY ALIENS looking to consume particular Alien Foods. For example, a Red Alien will consume a single Red Alien Food, removing it from the game.
8. Some cards must be Destroyed in order to use them. For example, a Wormhole allows you to swap all of your Alien Food cards with all of the Alien Food cards of another play. However, Wormhole is destroyed in the process.
9. The last player to have any Alien Food cards remaining is the winner!
