Soma's war faces new allies and new challenges. Will this be enough to turn the tide of battle, or will we fall like so many worlds before?
Welcome to the new editition of Immunomon, Rise of the Lab Mouse. While the first generation of Immunomon cards, Edition Sunrise, featured many different characters from all accross the immune system, it quickly became clear that a version of the game was needed that would focus on the key core elements of the immune system, while also creating a faster pace, and more player-centered decisions.
As a trading card game, players are free to trade cards between both editions, and customize their decks to enjoy different approaches and strategies to gameplay. With the addition of new elements, including the lilies, the test tubes, and of course the lab mice, players gain the abilty to choose between strategies such as focusing on building their army toward warriors quickly, expanding outward before building up, or focusing on building a fast economy early game.
The ultimate decisions will lay with each player as they build their deck, and gather their army to defend the world of Soma.
What's new? The Lab Mice featured in this game represent a race of warrior scientsts who act as support units to the Immunomon armies. While it could be tempting to send these mouse warriors to directly battle viruses, bacteria, and dragon-parasites, I wanted the game to focus on how science works together with the immune system in the war against disease. This is why the Lab Mice act to give players strategic decisions in how to manage their forces, rather than fighting in place of the armies present in the immune system.
Immunomon is a trading card game based on real-life immunology. The characters are inspired by real-world immune cells, with a layout designed to help advanced university and medical students learn the complex interactions of the various parts of the immune system. While this game is presented in a fantasy-style world, the details are carefully researched to keep the game interactions in line with real-world immunology. It is my hope that players may even use this someday to begin brainstorming real-world approaches to fighting real disease.
