Description

What is KORT?: KORT is a fantasy based trading card game consisting of mythological and fantasy characters.

Is the Card Art Original?: Yes, all art is specifically commissioned by a professional for each card. All art is hand made with little to no digital computer generated alterations.

What type of cards are in the game?: The game consists of Creature cards, Spell Cards and Attach Cards..

How Many Type of Cards Per Deck?: Each deck will consist of at least 30 common cards. A maximum combination of 10 rare/legendary cards are allowed per deck. (This rule is to ensure balanced advantages between experienced and inexperienced players. Rare and legendary cards tend to be stronger then common cards.) Can I have multiple copies of a card in a deck?: No duplicate cards of any kind are allowed in each deck. (This rule is to promote collecting different cards and creating a personal strategy).

What is my Goal?: Rid your opponent of every playable card in their deck and hand. Any player who is directly attacked while having no cards in their deck or hand, loses the game.

How do I achieve my goal?: By attacking your opponent directly. When a player is attacked directly, then they must discard the top card of their deck. If they have no cards in their deck, then they must discard one card from their hand.

How do you attack directly?: By first eliminating your opponents creature on the field.

How do I eliminate my opponents creature? By using your own creatures to attack and deal damage. When a creatures health points are equal to or less than zero, then they are destroyed and sent to the discard pile. You can also use certain spell cards to eliminate your opponents creature.

How many cards are in a deck? Each player will have 40 cards in a deck. No duplicate cards of any kind are allowed. A combined maximum of 10 rare/super rare cards are allowed per deck. This is to ensure balanced advantages between players.

Each player will have a deck of 40 cards.

Each deck will have a maximum of 15 creature cards. (Each player is allowed to have less than 15 creature cards.)

Each deck will have a combined total of at least 25 spell cards and attach cards. (There is no limitation of the combination. For example, you can have 39 attach cards and 1 creature card in your deck.)

Each deck will have at minimum 30 common cards. (Though, players can have a total deck consisting of 40 common cards if they desire.)

Each deck will have a maximum combined total of 10 rare/legendary cards, though each deck is only allowed to have one legendary card. (There is no limitation of the combination. For example, you may have 10 rare cards in your deck or you may have 9 rare cards and 1 legendary card.

How many creatures can I summon?: No player is allowed to have more than one creature summoned to the field at once. During your turn only, you may summon as needed but you cannot summon a creature after you have declared an attack.

How many times can I attack?: Each player is only allowed to attack once per turn, regardless of any other creatures you have discarded or summoned during your turn.

What is a creature ability?: A creatures ability is something a player can activate in lieu of attacking. If you activate a creatures ability, then that ability will count as your one attack per turn. You cannot attack after activating an ability on the same turn. Some creature abilities can only be activated when they are defeated, these abilities do not count towards your one attack per turn.

What is a creature type? A creature can have either Fire, Earth, Water or Forest as their type. Certain abilities, spell cards and attach cards can only be activated towards specific creature types.

What is a creature keyword? This is a word specifically associated with your creature. Certain abilities, spell cards and attach cards can only be activated towards specific keywords.

Are there scores to calculate?: Health points and attack points associated with creature cards are the only scoring in the game. These points are usually referred to as a creatures stats.

As creatures do battle, their health points will change in value. Also certain spell and attach cards will change the value of a creatures health points and attack points.

What about player points? There is no player points or life points.

How do I keep score? You may keep score manually or by using dice (recommended).

Use a red D20 dice for health points and a blue D20 dice for attack points.

What happens to a creatures stats once they are destroyed? A creatures stats reset once they are sent to the discard pile. If they were to be brought back to the field, then there stats would be normal.

What type of Spell Cards are there?: There are two types of spell cards which include white spells and black spells.

Black Spell?: Black spells will have a black border. Black spells are more common to produce chaos. They inflict damage and make the game difficult for your opponent.

White Spell?: White spells will have a white border. White spells are more common to produce benefits to the user. They are also most commonly used to counter abilities, effects and attaches.

When can I use a spell card?: Each player can activate a spell card during any turn and any phase of the game. There is no limit of when and how to activate a spell card.

Do spell cards stay on the field?: No, all spell cards are sent to the discard pile after they are activated.

Are the effects from spell cards permanent? Yes, usually the effects from spell cards are permanent. Unlike attach cards, which are usually reversible once destroyed.

What are Attach Cards?: Attach cards are used to support your creature cards on the field. They will have an orange border. Attach cards are used to boost the stats of creature cards.

How many attach cards can I have on the field?: Every creature is only allowed to have a maximum of 3 attach cards supporting them.

What do attach cards do? Attach cards have a variety of effects. But usually they will either improve or decrease a creatures stats. For example an attach card may increase the attack of a creature by +3 points.

Do attach cards permanently change my monsters stats? No, an attach card must be on the field in order to change the stats of a creature. If an attach card is removed from a creature, then the change of stats are reversed.

(Example) Creature has 7 attack points. Creature is supported with a +3 attack attach card. Creature now has 10 attack points. Attach card is removed from creature. Creature once again has 7 attack points.

What if a spell card, creature card or attach card breaks a Kort Rule? Which outcome is correct?: The Golden Rule of Kort is - Any new card effect shall trump the basic main rules of Kort.

(Example) Kort Rules only allow one creature card to attack once per turn. Player activates a spell with the effect of: “Target 1 creature card on the field. Target creature is allowed to attack twice this turn only….” In this case, the spell card will be followed.

New cards with new effects will change the future mechanics of Kort. This is to ensure that Kort is able to change and adapt over time.

What are token cards? Token cards are an outside game mechanic. These cards will be stored outside of the game and field. Some cards will allow players to gain token throughout the game. These token cards will usually only have 1 health points and 1 attack points.

(Example) Players activates spell with the effect of: “Place one token card with the “Werewolf” keyword in your hand…” Player will collect one token card from outside the game. Token cards do not count towards your main deck size.

What are the Lucky Numbers on creature cards? Lucky numbers are specific number associated with a creature card. Many creature abilities require you to roll a single yellow D6 dice. Your dice roll must match the same lucky number on your creature card in order to perform this ability. If you miss the dice roll, then your creature attacked is negated and forfeited.

What else is a lucky number used for? A lucky number can also be used to dodge an attack declared by another opponent. When an opponents creature attacks your creature, then you are allowed to roll a single yellow D6 dice. If you roll your creatures lucky number, then your creature successfully dodges the attack and receives no damage. If you miss the roll, then the attack continues and your creature will receive normal damage to its stats.

Can I use my creatures lucky number to dodge spells? No, you can not use a creatures lucky number to dodge any type of spell card or attachment card.
