Lectio Divina Cards are designed to guide you through a prayerful encounter with Scripture—helping you slow down, listen deeply, and enter into dialogue with God’s Word. Rooted in the ancient Christian practice of Lectio Divina (“divine reading”), each card offers a passage or text for reflection along with a simple four-step process: Lectio (Read), Meditatio (Reflect), Oratio (Respond), and Contemplatio (Rest).
In addition to Old Testament and New Testament Christmas Readings, the collection includes reflections from the Saints—such as St. Leo the Great, St. Bernard, St. Hippolytus, St. Athanasius, and St. Maximus—as well as meditations on the 12 Days of Christmas, Collects from the Mass, and more. The set also draws from beloved Christmas hymnody, including lines from Corde natus ex parentis (“Of the Father’s Love Begotten”), Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, and In the Bleak Midwinter.
These cards can be used individually or in groups to nurture spiritual reflection, draw from the richness of Scripture, tradition, and sacred song, deepen your relationship with Christ, and allow His Word to take root in your heart and daily life.
Instructions:
Contemplatio (Contemplation) What does He say to me? Rest in God’s presence. Be attentive to His inspiration and the movements of your will—consider any resolutions He may be asking you to make.
