Description

Liberty, DEATH, or TAXES is a bluffing 72-card party game with a patriotic theme. Designed to commemorate America’s 250th birthday, the game is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of American humor.

Let’s Play! How to Play Liberty, DEATH, or TAXES with 4 Players:

1) Deal each player 1 Player Aid Card for reference.

2) Deal each player 1 DEATH Card to start their Hand.

3) Return any unused Player Aid Cards & DEATH Cards to the Box. They will not be needed.

4) Take 9 Liberty Cards (2 per player + 1 extra) and ALL TAXES Cards. Shuffle them. Deal 5 Cards to each player. Sit the remaining deck of Cards where it is easily accessible to all players. This is the Draw Pile. Return any unused Liberty Cards to the Box. They will not be needed.

5) All players should now have their Starting Hand of 6 Cards. Players can choose to shuffle or re-organize their Hand however they wish. Remember this is a bluffing game! During gameplay players can NEVER have more than 6 Cards in their Hand. If a player would acquire a 7th Card (through any means), the Card is instead DISCARDED!

6) The oldest player goes first. Play then proceeds clockwise.

7) On Your Turn: You MUST take 1 and only 1 Turn Action from the following options:

- Pay Taxes: Play a TAXES Card face-up from Your Hand to the Discard Pile. You MUST take this Turn Action if you begin Your Turn with 4 or more TAXES Cards in Your Hand!

- Go to Work: Draw 1 Card from the Draw Pile to Your Hand. You CANNOT take this Turn Action if the Draw Pile is empty!

- Declare Your Liberty: Say “Liberty.” Play nothing. Then see if another player calls you out! You can say “Liberty,” even if you do not have any Liberty Cards in Your Hand. ANY player can choose to call your bluff BEFORE the NEXT player’s Turn begins. - If a player calls you out AND you have at least 1 Liberty Card in Your Hand (Telling the Truth): 1. You MUST show 1 Liberty Card to everyone. 2. Then play the Liberty Card face-up to the Discard Pile. 3. Finally, you get to Steal a Card at Random from the player who called you out! - If a player calls you out AND YOU WERE BLUFFING (You have NO Liberty Cards in Your Hand): 1. Play any 1 Card (of your choice) face-up to the Discard Pile. 2. Then, the player who rightly called you out gets to Steal a Card at Random from YOUR HAND!

- Death: All that remains…If you have no other options, you MUST play your DEATH Card face-up onto the Discard Pile. If you do this, you are immediately eliminated from the game!

8) After a player has completed their Turn Action, play proceeds clockwise with the next player.

9) Gameplay continues until only 1 player has Cards remaining in their Hand. That player is the winner!
