In Loy Loy players take the role of a low paid worker that is participating with her sister and friends in a rotating savings group and deciding whether to borrow, how to spend, how much to save and which assets to buy.
In a similar way that a game of Monopoly introduces the property market, Loy Loy simulates the financial decisions of a low-paid worker in the developing world.
Loy Loy was developed as a financial inclusion project and pilot tested with garment workers in Cambodia to improve its accuracy.
It was created by researchers at Monash University and the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion at UC Irvine.
