Winning the Game

Victory is achieved by strategically balancing fame and mystery to reach legendary status. Each player starts with 13 tokens, toggling between fame and mystery as points are earned. The goal is to either accumulate 7 fame points and 6 mystery points or 7 mystery points and 6 fame points, aligning with your cryptid’s specific moon phase.

A victory can be declared when these conditions are met during the active moon phase, representing the perfect balance between being known and remaining elusive. Below, a visual aid illustrates this victory declaration process, emphasizing the crucial alignment of token balance and moon phase necessary for winning.

Fame and Mystery Tokens & Scoring

Begin the game with 13 Mystery Tokens per cryptid, each marked with a ? for Mystery and a ★ for Fame. As you play, earn fame points to increase your notoriety and mystery points to enhance your elusiveness. However, maintain a strategic balance: too much fame risks exposure, while too much mystery risks obscurity.

Throughout the game, you will flip these tokens to reflect your accumulated fame and mystery points.

Moon-Phase Turn System

At the start of the game, Moon Cards are arranged in sequential order from I to IV, each representing a major moon phase. Players conclude their turn by ceremoniously advancing the moon phase: flip the top Moon Card and place it at the bottom of the stack. Once the phase changes, that player must wait until their next turn to take further actions. Some cards can alter moon phases, adding a strategic layer to the gameplay. Aligning your cryptid’s specific moon phase with the current phase is crucial for victory.
