Dear football fans, Old School Football is a turn-based football strategy game, which pretends to be a simulation. The game offers a turn-based action experience which is original but can be quite difficult to understand. If you read the book and have already knowledge of football, it would not be that difficult. After learning the game rules, there is potentially much fun in it. The play is organised between the attacking and the defending side, possession of course switches when the attacker loses the ball to the defending side. Then the attacker becomes the defender. When the players play the game, they will encounter the opponent players in a one-on-one situation. The game then offers passing with a dice, passing without a dice, passing a player by feinting (making a distractive movement by dicing even numbers with the White dice once or two times, optional, depending on which rules you would prefer), playing short and long balls, throw ins, freekicks, dribbling, so, everything in football that exists, it exists in this turn-based simulation strategy game. The game has a learning curve, that is for sure. I keep a 12+ age restriction. I know that most young people can easily play this game. But people have to somewhat “study” the rules and play a couple of times, before they become a real pro and will like the game more. The game can be enjoying, when the duel becomes fierce, and dribbling and feinting the opponent makes it much more fun. Then scoring is needed. The player can try a shot and curl the ball in by throwing even numbers with the White dice. The more even numbers the player throws, the more the ball curls in, and the curl stops when an odd number is thrown. The pass or shot on goal can be intercepted the defending meeples, who are within 1 Square range of the ball, by dicing an even number with the White dice, if successful, the ball goes 90 degrees towards a direction the defender chooses. Otherwise, the ball keeps going towards its destination… Some elements of the game are presented here, of course it is not the same as playing the game, but it can be an indication of how the game would feel. I hope you already enjoyed the description, and maybe you like the game when you play it with your family or friends. P.S. The owner should buy numbering stickers for the meeples. Kind regards, Murat Tanta
