Pazaak is best compared to Blackjack. Each player takes turns drawing from the main deck in an effort to score as close to 20 as possible without "going bust" (21+) during a set. A Pazaak match is played until one player wins three sets before their opponent. At the start of a match, each player has four cards from their side deck which can be used to modify the total of their play area, though only one side deck card can be played during an individual set by either player, which adds a measure of strategy and control to what is otherwise a game of simple luck.
A reimagined style layout for a true classic, Pazaak: Wretched Hive uses Aurebesh font styles for a more immersive experience. The diagonal slopes and background color selection were inspired by both the "Cloud City CCD" edition of Pazaak (per Board Game Geek forums) and another design which I haven't found an official title for in my research so far.
This edition of Pazaak includes one main deck of 40 cards, numbered 1-10, and one 66-card side deck that can be divided evenly between two players. Each deck also has its own distinctive back design for easy sorting without the messy need to count or sort individually by the front faces. Two double-sided rules reference cards and custom storage box included. 108 cards total.
Side deck contents for each player when divided evenly: 2x each value 1-3 (+, -, ±), 1x each value 4-6 (+, -, ±); yellow specialty cards are 1x ±1T tiebreaker, 2x wild value ±1 or ±2 (1±2), 1x double, 1x 2&4 flip, 1x 3&6 flip.
All original art assets were built in GIMP 2.10.6 on a desktop PC running Win7. No AI was involved for this design.
