In this quick, fun card game, you're challenged with planning an itinerary for your trip to Taiwan. You are aiming to get the best experiences (or VP) out of your trip by combining delicious food, beautiful vistas, and fun to-do activities—while minimizing travel hassles. Are you up to the challenge, and ready to learn what Taiwan has to offer? Let’s get started!
Round Trip: Taiwan is a game for two players, where they will add cards to their line-up to best score most point possible. It is easy to learn and set up, quick to play, yet offers some hidden strategy and much replayablity. All the while learning about the beautiful country of Taiwan and what is can offer to travelers.
GAME RULE OVERVIEW
Setup: Shuffle the deck, then remove two cards and place them facedown off to the side (they won’t be used). Arrange the remaining 16 Destination cards in a diamond pattern as shown. Note which rows are face-down or face-up, with the lower rows covering the cards above. The player who most recently visited Asia, or the younger player, goes first.
Destination Cards: Each card includes: Type: Food, Vista, To-Do, or Special Region: From 1 to 5 (Specials apply to all regions) Picture and Name (for flavor) Special effect and/or scoring conditions
Gameplay: On a player's turn, they take one Available Destination card from the general area and add it to their Itinerary. A card is considered Available if no other card is covering it. After taking a card, if this reveals any face-down cards (i.e., makes them no longer covered), flip those face-up. When adding a card to their Itinerary, players may place it at either on far left or right end of their Itinerary. This placement matters for certain scoring conditions. Players may not insert cards between existing ones or rearrange cards once placed. Keep all Itinerary cards aligned in a single row.

After a player finishes their turn, the next player takes theirs. Continue until all cards are taken. Each player should end up with 8 cards in their Itinerary. Then move onto Scoring.
Scoring: Score each Destination card in your Itinerary from left to right. Then check for the following bonuses or penalties:
Set Bonus: +3 VP for each set. A Set consists of having all three types (Food, Vista, and To-Do).
All-Around Bonus: +6 VP if your Itinerary includes cards from all 5 Regions (order doesn't matter).
Travel Hassle Penalty: -3 VP for each Travel Gap. A Travel Gap occurs when two adjacent cards have non-adjacent Regions (with Region 1 and 5 considered adjacent) Example: Region 3 next to Region 5 = Gap. Region 3 next to 2, 3, or 4 = OK. Add up all VP. The player with the higher score wins!
Solo Mode: For solo play, reveal 2 cards from the deck each turn. Pick one to add to your Itinerary, discarding the other. Repeat until you have 8 cards. Then total your score: 10 or below: Poor 11–20: Fair 21–30: Good 31–40: Great! 41+: Excellent! Challenge yourself to beat your high score!
Designer's Notes: This game was made for the Geo Contest and to promote Taiwan, a country I love. For game play purposes, many points of interest are grouped into Regions rather than specific cities or locations. But hopefully it will perk your interest to explore and learn more about Taiwan and what it has to offer. There's much more point of interest for Taiwan not covered in this game—more fun spots and more delicious foods. Hopefully they could appear in a future expansion as well. Thank you for your support, and enjoy the trip!
