Rugged Appalachia

Rugged Appalachia offers two wilderness adventures in one game. Players journey into the Appalachian mountains, where preparation, persistence, and successful trade are essential to survival and exploration.

In Mountain Survival, establish a campsite and begin gathering the supplies needed for life in the mountains. Hunt and trap for furs, make rope, and travel by raft to the Trading Post to exchange your goods for supply baskets, lanterns, mining hammers, and compasses. Once properly equipped, mine and process iron, visit the Ore Exchange, and trade your hard-earned ore for a wagon—while saving extra iron for the journey ahead.

In Woodland Trade, travel deeper into the region and encounter Native American communities. Communicate, share metalworking techniques, and trade iron for horses. Meetings can develop from cautious introductions into shared meals, demonstrations, and valuable exchanges. You must also hunt and carefully prepare hides for bridles and reins while contending with flash floods, rain, failed hunts, and communication setbacks.

The first explorer to acquire two horses, two prepared hides, and a wagon is ready to travel farther into Appalachia—and wins the game.

With resource gathering, rafting, mining, hunting, trading, and changing encounters, Rugged Appalachia: Human Footprints turns a mountain expedition into two connected tabletop challenges of preparation, perseverance, and exploration.
