Description
Salta is a game of jumping and blocking. The goal is familiar: be the first to jump your opponent's pieces, and occupy his starting area. But Salta adds a challenging twist. The game pieces are not interchangeable, so simply filling space won't do! You have to move each piece to an *exact* space on the other side of the board.
The game was invented in 1899 by German composer Conrad Büttgenbach. Salta enjoyed a period as a fad in France and Germany before the First World War, with clubs, magazines, and tournaments devoted to the game. There was even a diamond-studded set with gold pieces exhibited at the 1900 World Trade Fair in Paris!
This version omits the diamonds and gold, and (unlike the compact edition) uses a traditional board design to spread out on an 18" quad-fold board.
Note: While the traditional colors have been used, we are aware that not everyone has the same ability to perceive red and green. We hope our efforts to allow for this have been effective, with red and green appearing dark and light (respectively).
This game contains laser cut components. Laser cut items will have a slight amount of soot around the edges, which can easily be wiped off; and will have a campfire smell for about a week after you open them.
