Spinal Cord Chaos was created by Dr. Melissa Cordes as a creative way to teach and learn the spinal cord pathways. It can be used in a classroom or as an independent study aid. Spinal cord sections were traced from actual histological sections which leads to variation and asymmetry in the sections. Anatomical features/nuclei have been located as accurately as possibly using a wide variety of anatomical references.
This game/study aid includes the most complete description of ascending and descending pathways in one place, along with a basic description of the physiology necessary to transmit nervous system signals.
Players choose a stimulus card which represents a piece of information entering or leaving the nervous system. They use resources to build the appropriate spinal cord pathway, using pathway descriptions included as well as varations based on physiology. Paths can be built using tape (purchased separately) or dry erase markers as the boards are wipable. A wide variety (30 cards) of stimuli/signals are included.
