Star Trader is a high-engagement strategy board game. We designed Star Trader to:

Keep every player engaged at all times. Other players’ turns change the board, the markets, and your plans.

Deliver meaningful strategy without long play sessions. A full arc of planning, tension, and payoff in about 20–30 minutes per player.

Reward bold decisions and smart timing. The best captains seize opportunities and adapt faster than their rivals.

Create player-driven stories instead of scripted events. Blockades, risky trades, pirate encounters, and last-minute escapes emerge naturally from play.

Scale cleanly from small groups to full tables. Star Trader works just as well with two players as it does with six.

Stay easy to learn but rewarding to master. Simple rules and clear systems let players focus on strategy and rivalry.

What will you do in Star Trader?

As an independent starship captain operating in a frontier system, you trade goods between distant settlements, navigate dangerous space lanes, and outmaneuver rival traders competing for the same opportunities. The Trade Union patrols the system in the name of order, while pirates lurk in the void looking for easy prey. Success belongs to the captains who can read the situation, take risks at the right moment, and seize opportunities before their rivals do.

Each turn you will trade goods, travel between worlds, and adapt your plans as the board changes around you. Markets shift, events disrupt the space lanes, and pirates or patrols may challenge your ship along the way. Action cards can be played at almost any time, allowing players to protect themselves, interfere with opponents, or dramatically change the outcome of an encounter. Every decision has consequences, and the galaxy rewards players who think ahead while staying flexible.

Star Trader plays in about 20–30 minutes per player and supports 2–6 players, making it perfect for game nights where you want meaningful strategy without an all-night commitment. With a modular star map, secret goals, and a large deck of action cards, every game unfolds differently and creates new stories of bold trades, narrow escapes, and last-minute victories.
