Sunrise and Sunset is a game of ladder climbing to collect the most sunlight tokens.
The game consists of 36 cards and sunlight tokens for points. The game consists of a number of rounds until one player runs out of cards. The plyers never pause for the rounds, but instead timing when cards can no longer be played to maximize the number of points received. This means that the round may change phases in various surprising times controlled by the players.
The game begins with the Sunrise phase where the first player chooses any number card from their hand and plays the card. The next player in turn order then sets the direction the cards will move, either increasing or decreasing, then plays a card in that direction. If the next player can play a card in the same direction, play continues until one player cannot play a card in the given direction. Each card played will add 0-5 tokens to the token pool. The first player who cannot play a crd then take the first turn in the Sunset phase
Sunset phase - The player gets to take half of the tokens (rounded up) to score. Then the next plyer does the same. This continues until one player is left without any remaining tokens in the pool, and then takes the first turn in the next Sunset phase.
When one player is out of cards, then the game is over fter that Sunset phase. The plyer with the most points is the winner.
This is the third game in the Simplicity Series.
