A (not so) civil procedure board game. Get jurisdiction to sue your friends in federal court!

Description

Make a Federal Case out of It!

In TAG!, you compete to file cases in federal court against your fellow players. Finish the game with best cases and you win!

Using custom Party, Claim, and Damages Cards, build a case against each other. Maneuver your pawn to the right state on the game board and then sue! But before you do, make sure there really is jurisdiction... and hope they don't have an Action Card to dismiss the case.

Scalable Gameplay

You choose how complex the game is.

In real life, you have to meet many legal requirements before filing a case—from finding the right defendant, to entering an appearance, to meeting the statute of limitations. TAG! focuses on three major re-quirements that law students learn in Civil Procedure class: Subject Mat-ter Jurisdiction (SMJ); Personal Jurisdiction (PJ); and Venue (V).

You can play different versions of TAG! by choosing which requirements apply. The more requirements you play with, the harder it will be to file cases, and the longer and more complicated the game will be.

Unique Case-Building Card Mechanic

Use three custom card decks to build valid legal cases. A valid case has at least four cards—two Party Cards (a plaintiff and defendant) a Claim Card and a Damages Card:

Use the cards in your hand to build a valid set (a case that meets the requirements you’ve chosen to play with).

Separate Mini-Game

TAG! includes a mini-game just about subject matter jurisdiction. Compete in escalating gin rummy–like rounds, to build more and more complex cases, with multiple parties and claims:

Full Board and Card Game

All the other versions of TAG! use the case-building card mechanic and add the game board and Action Cards.

Playing as one of the Parties, compete to bring valid cases against each other as you move around imaginary states and judicial districts on the game-board map. And play custom Action Cards—based on real legal cases and strategies—to strengthen your own cases or defeatyour opponents'.

Based on Real Law

Developed by a law professor and law students, TAG! incorporates real law and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure into the game rules themselves. The rules are carefully designed to realistically reflect the complexity of the law, while keeping the gameplay simple and fun!

For law students, TAG! is a great way to practice and review the jurisdictional rules from their Civil Procedure courses. For everyone else, it's an introduction to how complicated and convoluted those rules can be!
