Description

Once there was a large peninsula of land that was ravaged by battles, skirmishes, feuds, wars, and unnatural explosions. It left the land ravaged and in ruins. As far as one could see, the terrain was in rubble, black and pitted by oils, fire, siege weapons and magical spells. Many decades of rain washed the blackened look away from the land, but it still lay in waste.

A knight claimed it as his own and named the Kingdom of Graystone after the gray look of the land. Upon seeing the extent of the devastation, he convinced a Druid, trained in the craft of terraforming, to come to Graystone. The Druid dwelled in the ruins of the Abbey and used his craft to return the land to its natural state. The transformation of the land took many years. As the land improved, folks from outlying lands came to make a new life in Graystone.

The Druid grew old, and it was time for him to pass his knowledge on. He took six orphans from the developing villages to become his apprentices. Now as the Elder Druid, he began their training on becoming a druid, and all the druidic crafts, including terraforming the land. After the training, five of the six apprentices were drawn to and bonded with different types of the land's terrain, never understanding the other's bond. The sixth apprentice chose to secretly study the craft of Chaos.

After the old Druid was satisfied with their training, he anointed the apprentices as true Druids; but out of neglect, did not appoint who was to become the Elder Druid upon his death. It did not take long after the old Druid' death, then the six apprentices started to squabble amongst themselves about which terrain was the best, and what terrain features should be in the Kingdom of Graystone. Each wanted to show the others that they were the best in the Druidic Craft of Terraforming. Each wanted to be named the Elder Druid. That is, except the sixth . . . he had other plans.

In this terrain tile manipulation game, 2 to 4 Druids match wits and cast spells. Every Druid has a unique ability, and with the use of movement, spells, and well planned strategy, they set out to transform to prove they are worthy of being the Elder Druid.

It's not worker placement, it's not tile placement, it's tile manipulation! No dice to decide your fate - just your cunning, wits and planning. Are you ready to transform the land? After all you are a Druid; and you should be able to do that without any problem. But watch out for the other Druids casting spells to undermine your terraforming and advance their own!

You become the Elder Druid by completing a secret goal - even if it is on someone else's turn! To complete your goal, all terrain tiles specified on your Goal Card must be face-up on the game board in a precise layout. While you are trying to complete your goal, your opponents are also trying to complete their own - which could disrupt your tactics and your planning.

The standard game is played on a field of terrain and terrain features tiles laid out in a 5 tile x 5 tile configuration. On your turn, you may Pass (take no moves or actions) and draw a Spell Card. Or you may (in ANY order) take one Move Action, cast one Standard Spell and as many Spell Cards as you desire. Then at the end of your turn, draw one Spell Card (yes, that means if you Pass you get two Spell Cards). Download the Rules to learn more!

The Terrain Tiles are double sided and represent many types of terrain like mountains, water, desert, grassland, and frozen tundra as well as terrain features like a village or a tavern. But there are two very special terrain types: there is the Mystical Wild Tile which is a wild Terrain Tile; and then there is the Void Tile that no player can move through or land on.

Included with the game are four variants: one to make the game easier; one to make the game longer and more challenging; one that increases the size of the game area (to 6 x 6 tiles); and then there is the Black Druid variant. He adds a truly chaotic element to the game.
