The Inner Mask Oracle Deck is a greyscale oracle deck drawn by Kathleen Kralowec (Kat Crow). The deck features various characters wandering a surreal zone that is part super-natural, part subconscious, part shadow realm, and the scenes depicted help a reader interpret their reality, and hear what the shadow-self is trying to say.
This is the official version of the deck which was Kickstarted in 2023 and is now sold out on Etsy. This version does not have the hard box and gilded edges that the Kickstarter version had, however it does contain all the cards, and a mini-book summarizing the meanings.
From @indiedeckreview:
“Kat Crow has created a deck meant to help us navigate our ego, our shadow selves, our actual self. For me, the faces, the inverted masks of each one looking inward as they interact with the world, remind me of the process I went through to understand the masking I was doing to live in this world as a human being with an autistic mind.”
Unique Features:
• Illustration process for the cards began in 2003 and didn't complete until 2018. During this time, the artist traveled and lived across three continents, often living out of a backpack with only mechanical pencils and ball-point pens available (hence the greyscale artwork)
• The deck was originally made available on The Game Crafter in 2016, and went through several iterations before its final version in 2023, which was successfully launched on Kickstarter.
• Each card features a name and three keywords to aid with interpretation.
• Each card's name was drawn by hand, reflecting the unique energy of each card.
• The oracle deck has a Major and Minor Arcana with Four suits (Veils, Masks, Mirrors, Shadows) which gives the oracle deck a dimension of complexity beyond most oracle decks.
• Particularly suited for shadow work, with black-and-white artwork depicting surreal and deeply psychological imagery.
• Also excellent for general introspection and spiritual deep-dives, each card prompts the reader to consider an aspect of the construction of the self.
• Has been described as “dark and intense,” is inspired by Jungian psychology, surrealism and dreams.
THIS DECK INCLUDES:
• 64 Oracle Cards printed on 305gsm black-core matt card stock (the same as Magic the Gathering) with UV coating for added durability.
• Booklet of Shadow Meanings containing brief descriptions of the cards for use in shadow work.

What is Shadow Work? Carl Jung described the “shadow self” as the repressed and unknown parts of the psyche. Some believe this to include the “negative” parts of the self, and erect a somewhat antagonistic relationship with it. However, the shadow is not an enemy to combat or defeat. The shadow is the inner child, a version of one’s child self that is still stuck in a moment of pain that hasn’t had the opportunity to heal. Relating to the shadow with this in mind will completely change the energy of the interaction, and the results. I define the shadow as the things that aren’t ok: the things in the past that still aren’t ok, the things in one’s relationships and reality that aren’t ok, and repeating experiences that aren’t ok. Some will equate the shadow very closely with the concept of the ego. However you define or understand this area of yourself, it can be said that this aspect has been trying to get your attention, calling out to be seen and recognized by you, and that as you live your daily life it is striving to be found. That part is also you, and it wants to come back together. This deck offers a means of communication for those aspects of the self, and can help facilitate interactions with the parts of self we had assumed were discarded, outgrown or eradicated.

The Inner Mask Oracle Deck is a deck I’ve owned so many copies of, and the one I’ve gifted the most. I’ve been asking myself how to tell you all, again, how deeply rewarding it is to work with.
