Wizard’s Chess is played on a square board with columns and rows of squares. The colors of the forty-eight squares, including two side rows or wings of 2x4 squares, alternate between light and dark squares. The chessboard is placed so that each player has a King and Queen space facing them, with the King on the right hand side.
The chessboard has four corners that represent the player’s castle. The corners are designed to protect the King, and can only be occupied by a King or Queen. This creates a special rule for this game, as a King never moves unless attacked, and so remains protected until the end behind the castle walls.
Game pieces: Each Player 1 King – 1 Queen – 1 Bishop – 1 Knight –1 Rook – 1 Beast – 4 Pawns Note: Reverse side of pawns reveals a Queen when promoted.
